The Prop Series drawings grew out of research materials I collected while creating new Postcard works for When Attitudes Became Form Become Attitudes exhibition. The show began at the Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts, San Francisco which travelled to Museum of Contemporary Art, Detroit.
“All works contain specific references to Harald Szeemann’s 1969 exhibition [Live in Your Head: When Attitudes Become Form], such as the Kunsthalle Bern itself and Richard Serra’s propped-up Lead Pieces, which were in the show. Schoenstadt transforms the latter into colored blocks that seem to support her new composition.”
