Fax Dawings

The fax drawing series started when I accidentally loaded the paper the wrong way in my fax machine. I was using recycled Xeroxes of drawings for fax paper and had asked a gallery to send floor plans to prepare for an installation. The result was a combination of the drawing and floorplan. The fax drawings use all the information on the page, which includes fax number, date, pages, etc. The only choice I make is regarding color.

Throughout the years the series has been realized in different forms, some wall drawings, some works on paper and one magazine project. When Fax Machines stopped being a way of communication, the series became E-Mail Drawings but the process was the same- I still use recycled paper and I still accidentally load it incorrectly. Normally, I translate the new drawings into large-scale wall pieces exhibited in the space that the floor plans depict. For the X-TRA artist’s project, I utilized four pages of in-progress design layouts faxed to me by the editors.
